Softball Recap: Destrehan Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Destrehan won the last time they faced Ascension Christian and things went their way on Monday too. The Destrehan Wildcats came out on top against Ascension Christian by a score of 10-6. The win was some much needed relief for the Wildcats as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Kallie Oubre tossed a big game, pitching 4.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. The dominant performance gave her a new career-low in earned runs.

On the hitting side, Ava Burkett was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in RBI. Alayna Vicknair also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.

Destrehan's victory bumped their record up to 8-4. As for Ascension Christian, with the defeat, they broke their six-game winning streak and moved their record to 7-2-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Destrehan will take on Bourgeois at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Destrehan is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.3 runs per game this season. As for Ascension Christian, they will square off against Ascension Catholic at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
