Softball Recap: Belen Wins Going Away Against Grants

Belen's game on Monday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. Everything went their way against the Grants Pirates as they made off with an 18-6 win. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won nine matches by ten runs or more so far this season.

Belen let Honey Mirabal and Araceli Franco run wild. Mirabal went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, seven RBI, and three runs, while Franco fired off two home runs, six RBI, and three runs while going 3-for-4. That's the most RBI Franco has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Shyla Rocha, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.

Belen always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .625. They are 10-3 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Belen pushed their record up to 13-12 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Grants, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 14-10.

Looking ahead, Belen is taking a road trip to face off against Valencia at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Eagles will need to watch out since the Jaguars have now posted at least ten runs in their last three contests. Grants does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
