Football Recap: Freeland Extends Home Winning Streak to Five

After only 13 points in their last game, Freeland made sure to put some points up on the board against Cadillac on Friday. The Falcons strolled past the Vikings with points to spare, taking the game 47-28. The Falcons pushed the score to 47-6 by the end of the third, a deficit the Vikings cut but never quite recovered from.

Max Heyn continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 118 yards and two scores on only 11 carries, while also throwing for 149 yards and four TDs on only 11 passes. Those 149 passing yards gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Karson Worth, who picked up 79 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Freeland was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 273 rushing yards. They are a perfect 6-0 when they've run for more than 200 yards.

On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Freeland's defense and their four sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Brigham Smith and Mason Kozumplik, who racked up all four sacks between them. Smith has been hot recently, having also posted five or more total tackles the last four times he's played.

Freeland pushed their record up to 7-2 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. The home wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 14.0 points on average over those games. As for Cadillac, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-7.

Freeland has already played their next contest, a 17-13 defeat against Escanaba on the 1st. Cadillac does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
