Baseball Recap: Vacaville Now 4-1 over Last Five Games

Vacaville not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since May 1, 2024. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Wood Wildcats a 7-0 shutout. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 6-1 last Tuesday.

Not much got past Dallas West, who gave up just three hits and racked up eight Ks to keep Wood off the board. West has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Caden Whitten was excellent, scoring a run and stealing Three bases. while going 1-for-3. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Noah Wilcox, who scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-4.

Vacaville is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 5-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. Wood is on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-6.

Looking ahead, Vacaville will be playing in front of their home fans against Sonoma Valley at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. The last four games Sonoma Valley has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. As for Wood, they are taking a road trip to take on Napa at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
