Basketball Recap: University's Luck Changes for the Better on Friday

University came into Friday's game having lost five straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They managed a 34-28 win over the Indianapolis Shortridge Blue Devils on Friday. This was a revenge game for the Trailblazers: when they faced off against the Blue Devils last Tuesday, they had to take a 48-45 defeat.

University's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Anyah Turley, who posted 15 points and five steals. That's the most steals Turley has posted since back in January of 2024. Gabby Culp was another key player, putting up eight points and 11 boards.

University's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 8-11. As for Indianapolis Shortridge, their loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 11-6.

University will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Decatur Central at 6:00 p.m. on January 28th. As for Indianapolis Shortridge, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 57-32 victory against Indianapolis Lutheran on the 23rd.
