Basketball Game Preview: Ridgefield Spudders vs. Columbia River Rapids

Ridgefield and Columbia River are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2020, but not for long. The Ridgefield Spudders will face off against the Columbia River Rapids at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Last Friday, Ridgefield took their contest with ease, bagging a 71-28 victory over Woodland. Given the Spudders' advantage in MaxPreps' Washington basketball rankings (they are ranked 123rd, while the Beavers are ranked 304th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Columbia River came tearing into Friday's matchup with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 36 points) and they left with even more momentum. They breezed by the Panthers to the tune of 84-47.

Ridgefield is also on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.3 points per game. As for Columbia River, their win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-2.

Ridgefield was taken down by Columbia River 79-39 when the teams last played back in December of 2024. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Columbia River's Ari Richardson, who went 10 of 21 on his way to 21 points in addition to eight assists and seven rebounds.
