Baseball Recap: Campbellsville Eagles vs. Taylor County Cardinals
Campbellsville had lost four straight on the road, but on Wednesday they dropped their record down to 19-10 to make it five. They fell 3-0 to the Taylor County Cardinals. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Cardinals this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 2-1 last Wednesday.
As for Taylor County, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 15 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-4 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.5 runs over those games.
For Taylor County's part, not much got past Cole McLean, who gave up just a hit and racked up 12 Ks to keep Campbellsville off the board. McLean has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Taylor County saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Layken Lyons, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Campbellsville and Taylor County should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Kentucky Rankings. The Eagles (ranked 20th) will meet Bethlehem (ranked 133rd) at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Taylor County will take on Washington County at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday with a big rank advantage (13 vs. 107).
