Baseball Recap: West Jordan Makes It Five in a Row on the Road

West Jordan barely beat Granger the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Jaguars blew past the Lancers 9-2 on Tuesday. The Jaguars haven't had any issues with the Lancers recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.

Payton Smith tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out six over five innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Brendan Wood, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyson Ashworth, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

West Jordan's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-3. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.8 runs over those games. As for Granger, they moved to 6-13 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

West Jordan will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Lancers: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
