Basketball Recap: Xavier Jackson's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Avant Garde Academy over Don Soffer Aventura

After flying high against Academy for Innovative Education last Wednesday, Avant Garde Academy came back down to earth. The Avant Garde Academy Sharks took a 51-38 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Don Soffer Aventura Barracuda on Thursday. The Sharks have struggled against the Barracuda recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

Several Sharks players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Xavier Jackson, who posted seven points and four steals. Francesco De Lucio was another key player, putting up five points and five rebounds.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Don Soffer Aventura to victory, but perhaps none more so than Tom Sela, who put up 11 points along with six boards and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Ocean Nahum, who had 12 points and seven assists.

Avant Garde Academy's loss dropped their record down to 8-5. As for Don Soffer Aventura, the win was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-3.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Avant Garde Academy will square off against Franklin Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Don Soffer Aventura, they will take on Ransom Everglades at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The timing is sure in Don Soffer Aventura's favor as the squad sits on five straight wins at home while Ransom Everglades has been banged up by six consecutive losses on the road.
