Softball Recap: Wayzata Finds Home Field Redemption Against St. Michael-Albertville

There's no place like home for Wayzata, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They came out on top against the St. Michael-Albertville Knights by a score of 6-3 on Friday. For the Trojans, this counts as revenge for the 3-2 win the Knights walked away with the last time they faced one another back in May of 2024.

Ella Goodnature spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on five hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Lexi Drasher and Mia Nelson did most of the damage at the plate: Drasher got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two RBI, while Nelson went 1-for-4 with one home run. That home run marked the first that Nelson has launched this season. Sydney Anderson was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Wayzata's victory bumped their record up to 3-4. As for St. Michael-Albertville, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 6-2.

Coming up, Wayzata will welcome Osseo at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for St. Michael-Albertville, they will square off against Buffalo at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Bison have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.92 runs per game on average), something the Knights will no doubt try to take advantage of.
