Preview: Gates Chili Spartans vs. Churchville-Chili Saints
Gates Chili and Churchville-Chili are an even 5-5 against one another since December of 2015, but not for long. The Gates Chili Spartans will head out on the road to challenge the Churchville-Chili Saints at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Gates Chili is hoping to put an end to an 11-game streak of away losses dating back to last season.
Gates Chili pushed their score all the way to 55 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 67-55 hit to the loss column at the hands of Brighton. Gates Chili has not had much luck with Brighton recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Joey Vigerzi, who scored 19 points along with six assists and five rebounds. Jeremy Tantalo was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with six rebounds and four blocks.
Meanwhile, Churchville-Chili pushed their score all the way to 56 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. Their tough 77-56 defeat to Irondequoit might stick with them for a while. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss Churchville-Chili has suffered against Irondequoit since February 19, 2020.
Gates Chili's loss dropped their record down to 2-8. As for Churchville-Chili, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-5.
Everything came up roses for Gates Chili against Churchville-Chili in their previous matchup back in December of 2023 as the team secured a 75-46 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Gates Chili since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
