Basketball Recap: Royal Palm Beach Comes Up Short

Royal Palm Beach lost against Martin County back in December of 2022 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Royal Palm Beach Wildcats fell to the Martin County Tigers 74-69.

When it comes to explaining why Royal Palm Beach lost, don't look at K'Nard Callendar. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 26 points and 17 rebounds. Callendar's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least 16 points. Another player making a difference was David Alexis, who went 7 for 10 en route to 17 points and five boards.

Even though they lost, Royal Palm Beach smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 21 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in three consecutive matches.

Leading Martin County to victory were Ari Smith and Brandon Brazell. Smith dropped a double-double on 23 points and ten rebounds, while Brazell went 6 of 10 to rack up 21 points. What's more, Brazell also posted a 40% three-point shooting accuracy, which is the highest he's posted since back in December of 2024. Jake Fischer was another key player, putting up ten points.

Royal Palm Beach's loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 16-9. As for Martin County, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 22-3.

Royal Palm Beach does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Martin County, they will square off against Boyd Anderson at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. One thing working in Martin County's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last eight games.
