Baseball Recap: Lancaster Catholic Has No Trouble Against Lancaster Mennonite

While Lancaster Catholic put up some runs on Wednesday, the same can't be said for Lancaster Mennonite. The Crusaders put the hurt on the Blazers with a sharp 7-0 win. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 9-1 two weeks ago.

Zach Zuber made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out ten over four innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Lancaster Catholic is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 5-6 otherwise. Zuber was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Ty George was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and one double. Lancaster Catholic is undefeated when George posts two or more runs, but 5-6 otherwise. Seamus Conner was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base and two RBI.

Lancaster Catholic was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .471. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive matches.

Lancaster Catholic has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Lancaster Mennonite, they dropped their record down to 3-9 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Looking ahead, Lancaster Catholic will challenge Northern Lebanon at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Lancaster Mennonite has already played their next contest (against Conestoga Christian), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
