Volleyball Recap: Mesa Verde Takes a Loss

If Mesa Verde was feeling good fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Del Campo last Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Mesa Verde came up short against the Franklin Wildcats on Friday, falling 3-0.

The loss didn't mean the game wasn't competitive: Franklin scored at least 19 points in every set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-19, 25-23, 25-22.

Eddie Montepeque paced Mesa Verde's offense, picking up ten kills. Montepeque got some help from Vernon Stahl and his 18 assists. Stahl and Montepeque didn't slow down when it came to serving: they led the team with two apiece.

Mesa Verde now has a losing record of 3-4. As for Franklin, the victory snapped their losing streak at seven games and leaves them with a 5-8 record.

Mesa Verde has already played their next matchup, a 3-1 win against San Juan on the 17th. As for Franklin, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 2-1 defeat against Rocklin on the 15th.
