Basketball Recap: Malone Skates Past Vernon with Ease

Malone won the last time they faced Vernon and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Malone Tigers claimed a resounding 69-13 victory over the Vernon Yellowjackets. That looming 69-13 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Tigers yet this season.

Jackson Welch continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, going 7 of 11 on his way to 18 points and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Jasper Cook, who posted eight points in addition to nine rebounds and three blocks.

Malone was working as a unit and finished the game with 23 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in January of 2024.

Malone's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 11-5. As for Vernon, they are on a 24-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-12.

Malone will challenge Graceville at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Vernon, they will square off against Chipley at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Chipley will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something Vernon surely won't give up without a fight.
