Softball Game Preview: Oswayo Valley Green Wave vs. Cowanesque Valley Indians

The Oswayo Valley Green Wave will square off against the Cowanesque Valley Indians at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Oswayo Valley has given up an average of 16.5 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Oswayo Valley is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They lost 28-20 to Port Allegany on Thursday. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game two weeks ago (17), the Green Wave still had to take the loss.

Meanwhile, Cowanesque Valley didn't have quite enough to beat Wellsboro on Friday and fell 5-3. The defeat continues a trend for the Indians in their meetings with the Hornets: they've now lost eight in a row.

Lilah LaBarron spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and three unearned) runs on four hits and racked up ten Ks.

On the hitting side, Cowanesque Valley saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Raegan Watson, who went 2-for-4 with one double. That double was Watson's first of the season.

Oswayo Valley's loss was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-3. Those road defeats can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 10.3 runs this season. As for Cowanesque Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 4-7.

Oswayo Valley might still be hurting after the 14-2 defeat they got from Cowanesque Valley when the teams last played back in April of 2018. Can the Green Wave avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
