Softball Recap: Old Orchard Beach Takes a Loss

Old Orchard Beach had lost ten straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 0-4 to make it 11. They lost 10-0 to the North Yarmouth Academy Panthers. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Seagulls of the 13-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2024.

As for North Yarmouth Academy, the victory keeps they at an undefeated 8-0. The result was nothing new for the Panthers, who have now won six matches by eight runs or more so far this season.

For North Yarmouth Academy's part, Jordan Nash and Lily Fortin made a big impact while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Nash didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. Meanwhile, Fortin pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. At bat, Nash went 3-for-4 with two triples and two runs, while Fortin went 3-for-4 with two RBI and one run. Those two triples gave Nash a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Isabelle Hinkley, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Brooklyn Goodman, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Old Orchard Beach will venture away from home to challenge Richmond at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for North Yarmouth Academy, they will head out to take on St. Dominic at 3:30 p.m. on Monday.
