Christ's Church Academy has gone a perfect 10-0 against Duval Charter recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Christ's Church Academy Eagles will face off against the Duval Charter Panthers at 6:00 p.m. Christ's Church Academy is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.4 runs per game this season.
Christ's Church Academy was handed a heart-breaking two-run defeat in their last matchup, but they sure didn't let that happen against Cedar Creek Christian on Monday. Christ's Church Academy put the hurt on Cedar Creek Christian with a sharp 24-1 victory. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Eagles considering their one-run performance the game before.
Jack Rose looked comfortable as he tossed 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in February.
On the hitting side, Christ's Church Academy got a massive performance out of Cole Hartfield, who went 3-for-5 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave Hartfield a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jacob Ligmanowski, who scored four runs while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.
Christ's Church Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .481. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, Duval Charter fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Christ's Church Academy on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell 5-2 to the Eagles. The Panthers' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.
Michael Grimaldi was huge no matter where he played even without the win. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. Grimaldi was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI.
Grimaldi wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Ryan Cruz, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base.
Christ's Church Academy is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. Duval Charter's defeat dropped their record down to 5-3.
Christ's Church Academy was able to grind out a solid win over Duval Charter in their previous matchup on Thursday, winning 5-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for Christ's Church Academy since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
