Football Recap: East Rutherford Starts Season with Defeat on the Road + How To Watch

East Rutherford had to hit the road for their first game and it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They took a 40-36 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Asheville Cougars on Friday.

Despite the loss, East Rutherford still got an impressive performance from Brandon Pinkerton, who rushed for 213 yards and three scores while picking up 11.2 yards per carry, and also picked up 37 receiving yards.

Leading Asheville to victory were Clement Davidson and Tay Williams. Davidson rushed for 226 yards and a pair of TDs while picking up 14.1 yards per carry, while Williams threw for 169 yards and one touchdown while completing 81.8% of his passes. The dominant performance also gave Davidson a new career-high in rushing touchdowns (two).

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. East Rutherford will take on Blacksburg at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Asheville, they are packing up and heading out for their first away game of the season: they will take on Dobyns-Bennett at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
