Southmont comes up short despite Vince Reimondo's dominant performance

Recap: Southmont Mounties vs. Covington Trojans

The Southmont Mounties were the 59-48 winner over the Covington Trojans when they last played one another back in January of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The contest between both teams wasn't particularly close, with Southmont falling 66-51. They have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite the loss, Southmont still got an impressive performance from Vince Reimondo, who scored 18 points along with six rebounds and two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Reimondo has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Evan Watson, who scored 13 points.

Covington's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Austin Stein, who scored 19 points along with four steals. Another player making a difference was Coye Ferguson, who scored 17 points along with nine rebounds and three blocks.

Southmont's loss dropped their record down to 6-6. As for Covington, the victory got them back to even at 9-9.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Southmont will take on North Putnam at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. North Putnam is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last four games. As for Covington, Covington and Fountain Central will face off at 7:30 p.m. on February 1st without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Indiana (Fountain Central is ranked 319th, while Covington is ranked 294th).
