Basketball Recap: Doniphan-Trumbull Falls Short of Lincoln Lutheran in the Playoffs

Doniphan-Trumbull and Lincoln Lutheran squared off in some playoff action on Saturday, but Doniphan-Trumbull had to settle for second. They fell 60-51 to the Lincoln Lutheran Warriors. While losing is never fun, the Cardinals can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 41st, while the Warriors are ranked third).

Several Cardinals players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Ty Bennett, who shot 55% from the field en route to 15 points. Bennett is on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 45% in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Parker Volk, who went 6-for-12 to rack up 14 points.

This is the second loss in a row for Doniphan-Trumbull and nudges their season record down to 19-8. As for Lincoln Lutheran, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten games. That's provided a nice bump to their 24-4 record this season.

As of now, neither Doniphan-Trumbull nor Lincoln Lutheran have any future games scheduled.
