Recap: York Cougars vs. Catawba Ridge Copperheads
The York Cougars's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss. They were outmatched by Catawba Ridge at home and fell 87-43. York has struggled against Catawba Ridge recently, as their matchup on Friday was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.
York's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Bryson Steele, who scored nine points along with seven rebounds. Logan Burris was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
Leading Catawba Ridge to victory were Lance Barnes and Zyan Hager. Barnes scored 24 points along with two steals, while Hager scored 32 points along with six steals. Barnes hasn't dropped below two steals for 13 straight games. Another player making a difference was Landon Foley, who scored eight points along with four steals.
York has not been sharp recently, as they've lost eight of their last nine contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-8 record this season. As for Catawba Ridge, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 15-2.
York will stay at home for another game and welcome Northwestern at 7:45 p.m. on January 16th. Northwestern is hoping to put an end to a five-game streak of away losses. As for Catawba Ridge, they will head out on the road to take on Lancaster at 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
