Basketball Preview: South Williamsport Mountaineers vs. Bucktail Bucks
South Williamsport is 9-1 against the Bucks since December of 2015, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Saturday. The South Williamsport Mountaineers will head out on the road to challenge the Bucktail Bucks at 5:30 p.m. South Williamsport is no doubt hoping to put an end to an eight-game streak of away losses dating back to last season.
Last Saturday, South Williamsport came up short against the Red Raiders and fell 51-38.
Meanwhile, Bucktail's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their third straight defeat. They were beaten by Muncy 78-38.
South Williamsport has traveled a rocky road recently having lost eight of their last nine matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-11 record this season. As for Bucktail, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-7.
South Williamsport won a contest that couldn't have been any closer in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, slipping by the Bucks 56-55. The rematch might be a little tougher for South Williamsport since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
