Baseball Recap: Lake Park Victorious

Lake Park won the last time they faced Addison Trail and things went their way on Friday too. The Lancers came out on top against the Blazers by a score of 7-4. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Lancers.

Patrick St. John spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on six hits and racked up nine Ks. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Lake Park is 7-3 when he allows at most one walk, but 11-13 otherwise.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Max Alvarado, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jack Gallagher, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with three stolen bases.

Lake Park's win bumped their record up to 18-16. As for Addison Trail, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 14 of their last 15 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-23 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lake Park will face off against Saint Viator at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Addison Trail, they will square off against Oak Park-River Forest at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Blazers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Huskies have averaged an impressive 7.2 runs per game this season.
