Basketball Recap: Grulla Comes Up Short

Grulla fought the good fight in their overtime match against Valley View on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 49-48 to the Valley View Tigers. The Gators' defeat continues a trend for the team, making it three in a row.

Despite the loss, Grulla still got an impressive performance from Ailani Lopez, who posted 20 points. That was a full 41.7% of Grulla's points, marking the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Kaylee Leal was another key player, putting up 12 points.

Grulla's loss dropped their record down to 9-15. As for Valley View, their victory was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 3-15.

Grulla has already played their next contest, a 50-32 defeat against Hidalgo on the 3rd. As for Valley View, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 60-25 loss against La Feria on the 3rd.
