Basketball Recap: Isaiah Mcgill's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Hunters Lane over Maplewood

Hunters Lane was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They fell to the Maplewood Panthers 54-49. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Warriors of the 68-65 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in December of 2022.

Hunters Lane's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Isaiah Mcgill, who went 5 for 7 on his way to 12 points and three steals. Mcgill is crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least two every time he's taken the court this season. James Davis was another key player, going 5 of 9 on his way to 12 points and five rebounds.

Hunters Lane's defeat dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Maplewood, their victory ended a seven-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 3-1.

Hunters Lane will venture away from home to face off against Martin Luther King Jr. Magnet at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Maplewood, they will host Pearl-Cohn at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
