Baseball Recap: Caverna Comes Up Short

Caverna extended their losing streak to nine on Tuesday, dropping them down to 1-27-1. They lost 8-1 to the Thomas Nelson Generals. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Generals this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 12-2 back in March.

Caverna saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Raif Dennison, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one double.

As for Thomas Nelson, their win ended a 13-game drought at home and bumped them up to 2-18. They not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since March 23rd (when they won 12-2).

On Thomas Nelson's side, they got a great performance from John Brock as he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out eight over 6.2 innings pitched. Those eight strikeouts gave Brock a new career-high.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Payton Thompson, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one stolen base. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Grant Edelen, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Caverna will take on Allen County-Scottsville at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Thomas Nelson, they will challenge Hart County at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
