Softball Game Preview: Nelson vs. Barlow Bruins

Nelson will square off against the Barlow Bruins at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Nelson is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.6 runs per game this season.

On Monday, Nelson didn't have quite enough to beat Gresham and fell 8-7.

Adalynn Hazel was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. Chloe Osborn was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one home run.

Meanwhile, Barlow made easy work of Sandy on Monday and carried off a 7-1 win. The result was nothing new for the Bruins, who have now won six contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Barlow has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 8-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.2 runs over those games. As for Nelson, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-6.

Nelson couldn't quite get it done against Barlow in their previous matchup back in May of 2025 as they fell 8-4. Can Nelson avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
