Wakefield picks up sixth straight win at home

Recap: Wakefield Wolverines vs. Rolesville Rams

Even though the Rolesville Rams scored an imposing 64 points on Friday, the Wakefield Wolverines still came out on top. Wakefield took their contest against Rolesville 77-64. Given Wakefield's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 35th, while Rolesville is ranked 333rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Wakefield had a senior duo take command as Syncere Burnette scored 30 points along with seven assists and Taj Boone-Chambers scored 20 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Burnette has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Tristian Pretlow, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds.

Despite the loss, Rolesville saw an underclassman step up: Jayvon Chestnut scored 21 points along with eight rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Life Lynch, who scored seven points along with two steals.

Wakefield's win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-2. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 78.0 points per game. As for Rolesville, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-8.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Wakefield will face off against Wake Forest at 7:45 p.m. on Friday. As for Rolesville, they will head out on the road to take on Millbrook at 7:45 p.m. on Friday.
