Baseball Recap: Grove City Christian Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Grove City Christian waltzed into their matchup on Monday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They came out on top against the Fisher Catholic Irish by a score of 9-4. That's more bragging rights for the Eagles, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

The team relied heavily on Peyton Fillinger, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. He is becoming a predictor of Grove City Christian's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 2-5-2 when he doesn't). Tyler Benedum was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Grove City Christian kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5.3 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 games they've averaged 12.2.

The win got Grove City Christian back to even at 5-5-2. As for Fisher Catholic, their defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 2-7.
