Basketball Recap: Arundel Takes a Loss

Arundel was the 78-55 winner over Old Mill when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. The Arundel Wildcats fell to the Old Mill Patriots 59-53. The Wildcats have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Loss or not, Arundel got some senior leadership from Samson Anjorin and Phoenix Eggleston. Anjorin posted 18 points and six boards, while Eggleston put up eight points along with 15 boards and five blocks. Those 18 points set a new season-high mark for Anjorin. The team also got some help courtesy of Ellis Johnson, who earned nine points.

Even though they lost, Arundel smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in 14 consecutive matches dating back to last season.

Brian Poore was nothing short of spectacular for Old Mill: he had 30 points. Another player making a difference was Bryce Daugherty, who posted eight points.

Arundel's defeat dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Old Mill, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-0.

Arundel didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 64-39 victory against C. Milton Wright on the 16th. As for Old Mill, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 61-45 loss against Landon on the 17th.
