Game recap: Garfield loses to Venice

Garfield (Los Angeles, Calif.) fell 35-21 to Venice (Los Angeles, Calif.).

After taking the lead on a Alijah Lee touchdown run in the second quarter, the Gondoliers led 14-7 at the half.

Venice expanded its lead to 21 points entering the fourth quarter. VHS scored two times in the third, including once on a Lee touchdown run.

The Bulldogs' Joshua Mendoza was the standout player for his team. The senior quarterback ran for two touchdowns.

The Gondoliers' standout player in the win was Lee. The junior running back ran for three touchdowns.



The victory was a step in the right direction for Venice, which was coming off a 35-17 defeat at the hands of Oaks Christian in its previous game. The loss was the fourth in a row for Garfield.

Venice (2-2) goes up against Dorsey in a non-conference game matchup next week, while Garfield (0-4) locks horns with South East in a Eastern game.
