Basketball Recap: Tech Comes Up Short

Tech was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They were a single point away from ending the streak, but they lost a 52-51 heartbreaker at the hands of the Weequahic Indians. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Panthers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 55-42 back in December of 2024.

Weequahic's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Haleem Sharif, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 11 boards. Weequahic is 4-2 when Sharif posts eight or more rebounds, but 1-2 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Riyahd McDonald, who posted nine points along with six boards and three steals.

Tech's defeat dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Weequahic, they moved to 5-4 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak.

Tech has already played their next match (against Barringer), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Weequahic has already played their next game, a 50-45 victory against Verona on the 25th.
