A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Sherman Bearcats duke it out with the Melissa Cardinals at 8:00 p.m. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Sherman has struggled recently with nine losses in a row, while Melissa will arrive with three straight victories.

On Tuesday, Sherman came up short against McKinney North and fell 52-41.

Meanwhile, Melissa didn't have too much trouble with Greenville on Tuesday as they won 60-43. Given the Cardinals' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 128th, while the Lions are ranked 599th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Melissa pushed their record up to 13-11 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.7 points per game. As for Sherman, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-18.

Sherman was able to grind out a solid victory over Melissa in their previous matchup back in January of 2024, winning 68-58. The rematch might be a little tougher for Sherman since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
