Football Recap: Stone Starts Season with Win on the Road

Stone had to kick off their season on the road on Friday, but they showed no ill effects. They enjoyed a cozy 31-13 win over the Hancock Hawks. The victory continues a trend for the Tomcats in their matchups with the Hawks: they've now won three in a row.

Ayden Green was a one-man wrecking crew as he rushed for 273 yards and three scores on only 15 carries, and also picked up 77 receiving yards and one touchdown. His longest rush was for an incredible 94 yards.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Stone was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 277 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in October of 2024.

When it comes to explaining why Hancock lost, don't look at Kaison Koenenn. Despite the final result, he rushed for 160 yards and a pair of TDs while picking up 7.3 yards per carry, and also threw for 186 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Coming up, Stone will challenge Poplarville at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Hancock, they will take on Harrison Central at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
