Football Recap: Mitchell Mustangs vs. Northeast Vikings

On Friday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, the Mitchell Mustangs beat the Northeast Vikings 25-20. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Mustangs.

Corey Simms was nothing short of spectacular: he rushed for 164 yards and two touchdowns. Rj Peabody did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 118 receiving yards.

On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Mitchell's defense and their six sacks. Leading the way was Dylan Leighton and his two. His also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, picking up two sacks and making 13 total tackles (4.0 for loss).

Mitchell was moving up and down the field and finished the game with 449 total yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Northeast only gained 293.

Despite the loss, Northeast still got an impressive performance from Mikale Washington, who picked up 80 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Keatin Emener was another key player, throwing for 281 yards and three touchdowns.

Mitchell's win bumped their record up to 2-0. As for Northeast, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 0-2.

Mitchell will head out to face off against Cypress Creek at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Northeast, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Gibbs at 7:30 p.m.
