Basketball Game Preview: Avalon Black Knights vs. Takoma Academy Tigers + How To Watch

The Avalon Black Knights will head out to face off against the Takoma Academy Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

On Monday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Avalon beat Veritas Collegiate Academy 74-68. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Black Knights' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 34th in Maryland, while the Spartans are ranked 94th in Virginia).

Avalon's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Toran Ayana, who dropped a double-double with 30 points and 11 rebounds, and Wisdom Martin, who dropped a double-double with 23 points and ten boards. What's more, Martin posted four blocks, the most he's had since back in January. Another player making a difference was Vincent Radich, who scored ten points and seven rebounds.

Avalon smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 20 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Takoma Academy). They blew past King's Christian Academy 87-64 on Tuesday. The Tigers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three contests by 23 points or more this season.

Takoma Academy's record now sits at 3-5. As for Avalon, the victory got them back to even at 4-4.

Avalon came up short against Takoma Academy in their previous meeting back in February, falling 91-78. Can the Black Knights avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
