Softball Recap: Bishop Gorman Takes Down Ranked Green Valley

Bishop Gorman faced Green Valley in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Gaels blew past the Gators 10-4. That's more bragging rights for the Gaels, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

MAKAMAE EUGENIO spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on ten hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, CHARLIE SIMI was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of BROOKLYN HICKS, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-5.

SIMI wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Bishop Gorman kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. The Gaels are a perfect 6-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Bishop Gorman's win was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-4 and their overall record up to 9-6-1. As for Green Valley, the defeat snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 11-7 record.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Bishop Gorman will challenge Santa Margarita at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Eagles' pitching crew has only allowed 1.9 runs per game this season, so the Gaels' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Green Valley, they will square off against Foothill at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday.
