Lyman Memorial put the finishing touches on their ninth blowout victory of the season on Friday. Everything went their way against Putnam as Lyman Memorial made off with a 56-32 win. The win made it back-to-back wins for Lyman Memorial.
Lyman Memorial's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jenny Lopez led the charge by scoring 19 points along with six assists and four steals. Lopez is crushing the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Makayla Piaseczny was another key contributor, scoring 18 points along with four steals.
Bolton has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They took a 54-39 bruising from Granby Memorial on Thursday. That's two games in a row now that Bolton has lost by exactly 15 points.
The losing side was boosted by Makenna Graves, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 15 rebounds. She is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Niya Islam, who scored 13 points along with eight rebounds.
Lyman Memorial is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season. As for Bolton, their loss dropped their record down to 11-6.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Lyman Memorial have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 32.8 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Bolton struggles in that department as they've been averaging 28.4 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
