Two dominant backs in Camron Johnson and Ryan Estrada are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Americas Trail Blazers will face off against the El Dorado Aztecs at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams are strolling into their games after big wins in their previous games.
On Friday, Americas humbled Parkland with a 34-7 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Trail Blazers.
Americas' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Maurice Edwards led the charge by picking up 105 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns. The dominant performance also gave Edwards a new career-high in receiving touchdowns (two). Emiliano Gonzalez was another key player, having thrown for 267 yards and two touchdowns.
Americas was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 204 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 192 rushing yards in five consecutive matchups.

Americas' defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB three times. Jose De La Rosa was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up two sacks himself. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 5.2 total tackles per game.
Meanwhile, El Dorado took their contest on Friday with ease, bagging a 77-27 victory over Bel Air. The win continues a trend for the Aztecs in their matchups with the Highlanders: they've now won seven in a row.
El Dorado's win came from a few key players Americas will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Brycen Booth, who threw for 229 yards and four TDs while completing 83.3% of his passes, and also punched in one score on the ground. Kevin Samuel also helped out as he racked up 122 rushing yards.
Americas' record now sits at 5-3. As for El Dorado, their record is now 7-1.
Americas came up short against El Dorado in their previous meeting on October 3rd, falling 28-20. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Estrada, who rushed for 244 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 12.2 yards per carry. Now that the Trail Blazers know the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
