Baseball Recap: Tuesday's Win Is Countryside's Sixth in Last Eight Outings

Countryside won the last time they faced Anclote and things went their way on Tuesday too. Countryside walked away with an 8-5 victory over Anclote. That's two games straight that the Cougars have won by exactly three runs.

Countryside got a great performance from Brady Olson as he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out seven over five innings pitched. What's more, Olson gave up only zero hits, the fewest he's had since back in February.

On the hitting side, Countryside let Braeden Callahan and Luke Neubauer run wild. Callahan scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3, while Neubauer scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. Those three runs gave Callahan a new career-high. Cody Hollenbeck was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

Countryside has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.6 runs on average over those games. Anclote has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost ten of their last 12 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-12 record this season.

Countryside will venture away from home to take on IMG Academy Navy at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Countryside is facing IMG Academy Navy at the right time seeing as IMG Academy Navy is stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Anclote, they will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Mitchell at 7:00 p.m. Mitchell will roll in looking for their ninth straight victory, something Anclote surely won't give up without a fight.
