Football Recap: Hanna Golden Eagles vs. McAllen Memorial Mustangs
Hanna had to start their season on the road on Friday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They came up short against the McAllen Memorial Mustangs, falling 37-14. The defeat continues a trend for the Golden Eagles in their meetings with the Mustangs: they've now lost five in a row.
Despite the loss, Hanna saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Adam Telamantez rushed for 43 yards and two TDs, and also picked up 39 receiving yards.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead McAllen Memorial to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kane Coy, who threw for 193 yards and three touchdowns on only 15 passes, and also rushed for 46 yards. That's the most passing touchdowns Coy has posted since back in September of 2024. Michael Alaniz was another key receiver, picking up 161 receiving yards and a pair of scores.
Coming up, Hanna will take on Sharyland at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for McAllen Memorial, they will face off against Weslaco at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams might be coming in a bit winded given these two teams combined for 859 yards in their previous games.
