Basketball Recap: Kermit Victorious

Kermit posted their closest win since December 13, 2024 on Thursday. They pulled ahead with a 51-50 photo finish over the Plains Cowboys. While the Yellow Jackets didn't have the best season last year (they finished 8-16), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Kermit's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Ethan Quiroz, who dropped a double-double with 14 points and 15 boards. Keaton Thomas was another key player, going 6-for-9 en route to 13 points.

The victory made it two in a row for Kermit and bumps their season record up to 5-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.5 points over those games. As for Plains, their loss dropped their record down to 4-3.

Coming up, Kermit and Andrews will face off at 3:30 p.m. on Friday without much rest, having both just played. As for Plains, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Non Varsity Tournament Opponent at 11:00 a.m. on Friday.
