Softball Recap: El Camino Snaps Five-Game Streak of Losses on the Road

El Camino won the last time they faced Woodland and things went their way on Tuesday too. The El Camino Eagles put the hurt on the Woodland Wolves with a sharp 11-5 victory. With that win, the Eagles brought their scoring average up to 6.5 runs per game.

Oaklee Schwartz spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and four unearned) runs on seven hits. That's the fewest earned runs she has allowed since back in March of 2024.

At the plate, Za'Niyah Smith was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That home run was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Dani Leon, who scored two runs while going 3-for-4.

Smith wasn't the only one working in the hit department: El Camino kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive games.

El Camino's victory ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-4. As for Woodland, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-6 record this season.

El Camino will host Casa Roble at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. El Camino is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.5 runs per game this season. As for Woodland, they and Sutter will meet in a dog eat dog contest at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
