Basketball Game Preview: Smithville Tigers vs. Giddings Buffaloes

The Smithville Tigers will face off against the Giddings Buffaloes at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Smithville will be strutting in after a win while Giddings will be coming in after a defeat.

Smithville will bounce into Tuesday's matchup after beating La Grange, who they had gone 0-9 against in their nine prior meetings. Smithville pulled ahead with a 61-60 photo finish over La Grange on Friday.

Meanwhile, Giddings was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They were dealt a 61-24 defeat at the hands of Navasota. While losing is never fun, the Buffaloes can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1274th, while the Rattlers are ranked 555th).

Smithville has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 16-8 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.2 points per game. As for Giddings, their loss dropped their record down to 3-16.
