Softball Recap: Floresville Gets the Win

Floresville was handed a heart-breaking two-run defeat in their last matchup, but they sure didn't let that happen against Carrizo Springs on Tuesday. Floresville's pitchers stepped up to hand Carrizo Springs a 14-0 shutout. The win continues a trend for the Tigers/Jaguars in their matchups with the Wildcats: they've now won three in a row.

Paislee Harrell was a major factor no matter where she played. She tossed 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, she gave up only zero walks, the fewest she's had since back in February. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, Ava Cardenas and Jocey Fehse did most of the damage at the plate: Cardenas scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances, while Fehse scored a run while going 4-for-4. Those four hits gave Fehse a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Mialynn Gulamhusein, who scored two runs while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

Floresville's victory bumped their record up to 7-13-1. As for Carrizo Springs, they dropped their record down to 3-16 with the loss, which was their seventh straight at home.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Floresville will face off against rival Pleasanton at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Carrizo Springs is set to challenge their familiar foe Uvalde at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
