Softball Game Preview: Horton Chargers vs. Jackson Heights Cobras

Horton is 0-3 against Jackson Heights since April of 2023 but things could change on Monday. The Chargers will head out to face off against the Cobras at 4:30 p.m. Horton has given up an average of 13.4 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Horton came up short against Pleasant Ridge on Thursday, falling 13-1. The Chargers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Jackson Heights scored the most runs they've had this season on Monday, but it wasn't enough. They took a 16-13 hit to the loss column at the hands of Oskaloosa.

Gracie Cowsert made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored four runs and stole four bases while going 3-for-3. She also hit a double, marking her first of the season. Madi Bacon was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing four bases while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

Jackson Heights' loss dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Horton, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-6.

Horton might still be hurting after the 19-1 loss they got from Jackson Heights in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can the Chargers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
