Basketball Recap: Butternut Comes Up Short

Butternut was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their ninth straight defeat. They were dealt a 68-17 loss at the hands of the Hurley Northstars. While losing is never fun, the Midgets can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Wisconsin basketball rankings (they are ranked 504th, while the Northstars are ranked 249th).

Butternut's defeat dropped their record down to 2-17. As for Hurley, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-3 record this season.

While Butternut had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:15 p.m. on Friday.
