Softball Recap: Midlothian Heritage Extends Winning Streak to Seven

Midlothian Heritage came tearing into Tuesday's contest with six straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11.2 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They put the hurt on the Kaufman Lions with a sharp 17-7 win. The Jaguars might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 13 games by six runs or more this season.

Skeylah Shirley made a big impact no matter where she played. She pitched four innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. Shirley was even better at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 4-for-5.

In other batting news, Midlothian Heritage got a massive performance out of Taylor Bilderback, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI Bilderback has posted since back in February. Joleigh Richards also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.

Midlothian Heritage always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .541. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Kaufman only posted an OBP of .360.

Midlothian Heritage's victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-7. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.7 runs over those games. As for Kaufman, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-10-2 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. A feisty cat fight will be fought as Midlothian Heritage Jaguars challenge Midlothian Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
