Baseball Game Preview: Christian Brothers Purple Wave vs. Christ Presbyterian Academy Lions

The Christian Brothers Purple Wave will take on the Christ Presbyterian Academy Lions on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Christian Brothers 3.6, Christ Presbyterian Academy 3) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Christian Brothers is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Tennessee's top teams: Baylor, who was ranked 15th at the time (Christian Brothers was ranked tenth). The Purple Wave's pitchers stepped up to hand the Red Raiders a 3-0 shutout on Wednesday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Purple Wave.

Meanwhile, Christ Presbyterian Academy entered their tilt with Chattanooga Christian on Wednesday with five consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with six. They blew past the Chargers 10-0. The Lions might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 15 contests by six runs or more this season.

Christ Presbyterian Academy's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 31-4-2. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for Christian Brothers, their win bumped their record up to 26-11.

Christian Brothers beat Christ Presbyterian Academy 6-2 when the teams last played back in May of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Purple Wave since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
